Practice Directions

December 23, 2013

This practice direction, effective February 3, 2014, amends and augments Rules 17(1), 17(3), 18, 21, 22(2) and 28(1) of the Specific Claims Tribunal Rules of Practice and Procedure.

Rules 17(1), 17(3), 18, 21, and 22(2) address the filing of documents with the Registry of the Specific Claims Tribunal (RSCT) and service of documents on other parties.

All documents must now be filed using the RSCT’s E-Filing application found on the Specific Claims Tribunal’s Web site at www.sct-trp.ca. All counsel in a proceeding before the Tribunal must create an E-Filing profile by registering at https://e-filing-depot-electronique.sct-trp.ca/registerProfile-eng.aspx. In accordance with Rule 18, the Tribunal may grant leave for a party to file a document by any other electronic means if doing so would be just, timely or cost-effective in the circumstances.

When a document is retrieved by a party using the E-Filing application, an email is automatically generated and sent to the Registry. This email is considered proof of service in accordance with Rules 21 and 28(1) and is to be filed by a Registry Officer of the RSCT as such.

Honourable Harry Slade, Chairperson
Specific Claims Tribunal
